This class will prepare students to pass the test for an Amateur Radio Technician license. An FCC-issued amateur radio license allows you to operate two-way radios to communicate with other licensed amateurs in your own town or in foreign countries. You can use commercial equipment or equipment you design and build yourself. Obtaining a license requires knowledge of rules and regulations, as well as some knowledge of radio science and technology. The rules and regulations can be learned by rote memorization. But we will emphasize the science and technology, in the belief that rules and regulations are easier to learn when the reasons for them are understood.

The class will meet two evenings a week for three weeks, followed by a Saturday review session, after which a Technician Class License Exam will be administered. The dates are: Oct. 10, 12, 17, 19 and 21. Tuesday and Thursday evenings, ending on Saturday. Location is GCC East Building (room to be determined). There will be a $15 charge for the license examination.
